This came into my mind about week ago. A possible X-Men AU fanfic, starring Logan, Ororo, Marie and Remy. And it bases on the X-Men movies more than the comics.

So far, I got this lil' plot:
It's an AU fic, of course. They are still mutants - no one hasn't been turned into regular humans. Mutants and humans are living some-what peacefully. Of course, there are Friends of Humanity causing trouble for mutants.

Logan works as a martial art instructor after retiring from the military force. While wandering around the street, he meets young Marie (Rogue) who is a orphan and lives in an orphanage. Marie becomes curious about Logan and likes to hang around with him. Eventually, Logan decides to adopt her.

After the adoption, Logan decides to move to a better apartment (after getting a new job from Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters) and meets Ororo with her godson, Remy who was visiting her for a week with his father.

And... that's it. Won't say anymore 'cause I haven't thought about the fic that far. ^^; Oh, Remy and Marie don't have their mutant powers just yet. This is where I follow the X-Men's original comic plot: their powers will manifest around the age 13-14. Remy is 12 and Marie is 10 in this pic.

Besides Gambit & Rogue, I adore Wolverine & Storm pairing as well. And yes, there *are* Wolverine & Storm moments in the comics... mostly in Au comics but some in "original" comics.
